Hannan Sulieman
UNICEF Deputy Executive Director, Management
Ms. Hannan Sulieman was appointed as Deputy Executive Director, Management, in August 2020.
Prior to this appointment, she served as Acting Deputy Executive Director, Management since February 2019, and was Director, OED and Chief of Staff since April 2016.
Before coming to headquarters, Ms. Sulieman served as UNICEF's Deputy Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, based in Amman.
With 23 years of service in UNICEF, Ms. Sulieman has extensive expertise in programme management, emergency response, resource mobilisation and partnerships. She was Deputy Representative in UNICEF Somalia during the tragic famine of 2011 and coordinated the programme response. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Representative of UNICEF Egypt and Senior Liaison Officer/Advisor to DSRSG in Afghanistan during a critical period of transformation there. She has also served in various headquarters functions.
Ms. Sulieman is a dual national of Sudan and the United Kingdom. She holds a Bachelor of Biology and a Master's Degree in Organizational Management.
She speaks fluent Arabic and English.
